Chantry School's Foundation Associate Programme for Classical Ballet is for young dancers aged 18 and under. It is our advanced level programme for students who are looking to refine and develop their classical ballet technique. It is called "Foundation" since classical ballet is the foundation dance technique for all dance students who are serious about their art.

It is suitable for any dance student who is looking for additional intensive classical ballet technique training each month.

PROGRAMME DETAILS:

The programme aims to:
  • Consolidate a classical ballet technique
  • Develop awareness of classical ballet conventions and forms
  • Prepare dancers for the demands of contemporary ballet technique

The Associate programmes are taught by Chantry's resident or guest teachers who are some of the UK's leading dance educators.

Students are required to attend a AUDITION to join the Foundation Associate Programme.  Auditions take place during a current Associate sessions. The audition is to assess whether the class is the correct level for the student, and also for them to experience the programme. We look for potential, passion and a strong sense of dedication to the art in all our students.

Date: Fourth Sunday of each month
Times:
  • Foundation 1: 1:00pm-2:30pm
  • Foundation 2: 1:00pm-2:30pm
  • Foundation 3: 2:45pm-4:15pm
  • Foundation 4: 2:45pm-4:15pm

Venue: Dance Pointe, 5 Swinegate, Grantham, NG31 6RJ
Sessions: 11 sessions per year from September-July
Fee: £99 per year

Age: Groups are determined according primarily by experience level, rather than age. However, typically our Foundation 1 and 2 dancers are 11+, Foundation 3 dancers are 13+ with a beginner/intermediate level of pointe experience, and Foundation 4 dancers are 14+ with a high level of pointe experience.

Chantry School is a vocational British dance school and our standards are professional and exacting. We encourage students to commit fully to the demands of any Associate Programme they attend and present and conduct themselves accordingly.

Auditions are held at various points during the year.

"As parents, it’s really exciting for us to see what (our daughter) is a part of and the professionalism and high standards of dance she is being exposed to. We are very happy and proud that she is a part of Chantry and she feels welcome and valued. She loves her associate classes and is learning so much."
