Chantry School is the official school of the UK contemporary ballet company, Chantry Dance.
The school was formed by Chantry Dance's co-Artistic Directors, Paul Chantry and Rae Piper, in order to provide a holistic dance training that prepares dancers for the profession. Underpinning this training is Chantry Dance itself, which offers students of Chantry School continuous support through employment and further development opportunities.
The school recognises that dance is a vocation, and the dancer first and foremost is an artist. In order to encourage the development of this artist, students are taught within an environment of discovery, support, rigor, discipline and respect.
Chantry School Mission Statement
Chantry School sees each dancer as an artist. We are committed to providing an environment in which the artist can develop and flourish, reaching their full potential as an individual dancer. As part of this process, we support each dancer in attaining the highest standard of technique and virtuosity through a disciplined, rigorous and focused technical training. Alongside this, the school encourages students to explore their artistic passions and creativity through
experimentation and autonomous investigation.
At all times, the school fosters a desire within the student to attain new heights in their technical and artistic skills, and encourages mutual support and respect of other students within in a shared environment of discovery.
The school believes that dance training should be financially accessible to all, and as such strives to provide affordable courses.
