3 year Diploma in Contemporary and Balletic Arts

Chantry School's 3 Year Diploma Course in Contemporary & Balletic Arts is a full-time vocational course for students aged 16+.

The course includes:
  • a focus on Contemporary Dance, Classical and Contemporary Ballet
  • training in other theatre genres including jazz, commercial, tap, acrobatics, and acting
  • Choreography
  • Teacher Training

The comprehensive training enables students to become versatile, all-round dancers and prepares the young dancer for entry into the industry.

Graduates of the course gain a Diploma in Contemporary & Balletic Arts which is accredited by the B.D.Q.T (Board of Dance Qualifications and Training), as well as an Level 4 Diploma in Dance Teaching with the International Dance Teachers' Association (I.D.T.A).

 The Advancement:

Students of the Chantry School's 3 Year Course are encouraged to advance in their technique, virtuosity and knowledge through a disciplined, rigorous and focused training.
So much is expected of today's dancer - technical virtuosity, acting skills, musicality, knowledge of many dance and theatre techniques...the list is a long one. Chantry School helps each student to advance in all these areas,
and helps foster a desire within the student to attain new heights in every aspect of their dance development. The School also teaches students to explore other forms of theatrical expression (such as acting and singing) in order to enhance themselves as a performer. Additionally, students are given teacher training and the opportunity to become qualified teachers with the I.D.T.A (International Dance Teachers' Association).

The Artist:

Part of Chantry School's mission is to help each dancer develop as an artist. We are committed to providing an environment in which the artist can develop and flourish, reaching their full potential as an individual dancer.

The school encourages students to explore their artistic passions and creativity through experimentation and investigation. They are encouraged to develop a choreographic awareness and creative/improvisational skills as a vehicle for expressing their individuality. The school also encourages mutual support and respect of other students within in a shared environment of discovery.

Chantry School is committed to helping to students to achieve their goal of become working, professional dancers. This assistance manifests itself in the following tutorial, pastoral, and financial ways:

1) The school's core teachers are artistic team members from Chantry Dance Company. This ensures students are given a training that is relevant, current and of the highest standard
2) Each student is given consideration for employment within Chantry Dance Company upon graduation
3) Free holiday classes for students with the professional company when available
4) Continued support and advice upon graduation
5) Affordable course fees (£4500 per year) with scholarships and bursaries available
6)  Located in a town with some of the most affordable student living/accomodation in the UK
